Here's some photo's from our day at the Buddy Walk in Duluth, GA, on Saturday. We were emotionally overwhelmed to have so many friends & family so generously support our participation this year.
The Buddy Walk was established in 1995 by the National Down Syndrome Society to promote awareness, understanding, acceptance, and inclusion for people with Down syndrome. The Buddy Walk is generally held in October, National Down Syndrome Awareness Month, and is sponsored by NDSS, along with local parent support groups, schools and other organizations.
The money raised will go to support the Down Syndrome community in various capacities. Last year the proceeds went to the Emory Early Childhood Down Syndrome Clinic, the first Adult Down Syndrome Clinic in the southeast, the National Down Syndrome Society, and various workshops, education programs, and RESEARCH. The Down Syndrome Association of Atlanta held it's first Buddy Walk in 1999, and it has grown ever since! Here's a link to their site: http://www.down-syndrome-atlanta.org/
