Participated in the Georgia Mining Association fishing tournament out of Camachee Cove in St. Augustine, FL. We fished on Grace, a 2002, 53' Carolina built boat (a CAB maybe?). She was beautiful, a privilege to be on for half a day.
Since this was only a 4 hour trip, we fished near shore, maybe 10-12 miles out. The basic routine was to drag spoons and naked ballyhou for kings. We picked up small bonito, kings, and an errant cuda. The cudas cut alot of our fish in half and shredded one of our kings. They even ate two squid of a six squid daisy chain teaser.
It was a beautiful day on the water. Calm seas. Regular action even though the fish were small. Capt. Bob was nice enough to let Daniel skipper the boat back to the marina. I was more than nervous watching Daniel navigate to shore, thru the ICW, up to the marina. The current was ripping, so the Capt. final took the helm when the boat was being pushed close to the marina channel entrance marker. Whew, he made it in w/out dad being responsible for any repair bills!
