Sarah's new IGFA JA World Record (http://www.igfa.org/) has been recognized and the certificate has finally arrived! Species: Bass Striped, (Landlocked) Weight: 30 lbs. (13.6kg) Place: Holston River, TN, USA Date: October 31, 2004 - late afternoon Bait: 14" Rainbow Trout Witnesses: Roger Honeycutt and Tim Adrien Technique: Pulling baits behind homemade planer boards in very shallow water. Tackle: 7 1/2' flipping stick / Ambassadeur 6500 / 25lb test / 8/0 octopus hook.
Tim's (Sarah's dad) description of the trip: "We were pulling three baits along a shallow stump row when one bait got really nervous. Sarah picked up the rod in anticipation of the strike...the best part of shallow water striper fishing. A huge boil appeared behind her planer board, that would be the fish. She tensed up, hoping the striper would take her bait, it did. She waited until she felt it pull and set the hook hard - fish on! The fish ran right down the stump row peeling line with ease. Sarah really put the pressure on to keep the fish out of the stumps. The fish finally cleared the stumps and surfaced at least 100 yards from the boat. After a ten minute tug of war, the fish and the record were hers. After all the pictures were taken, the fish was released to one day give someone else a thrill."
