Tuesday, July 27, 2004 - PCB Family Vacation, Day 1 --> Bay Trolling & Shell Island Back

PCB Family Vacation  -  Day One

Actually day two since we tried to launch the afternoon before but ran into a little unexpected difficulties with the PC Marina ramp being too short.  By the time we found St. Andrews, it was more than a little late.  We got $EA $ICKNE$$ in the h20, but had one engine stuck on WOT.  Tim managed to massage her enough to take a trip circle around the bay, but we decided to come back in the morning with some grease to do some lubrication duties.

Finally Day One (at least 1st day fishing):  With our stubborn throttle cable subdued by our newly purchased grease gun, we finally took Sharon, Shelby, Daniel, Tim & Ben out for our maiden fishing voyage in these waters.  After being unsuccessful finding some bait on sabiki's, decided to troll for some spanish & kings.  We managed to hook up Daniel w/$EA $ICKNE$$'s 1st Spanish!  and put Shelby on his 1st saltH20 fish - a decent king.  We had  a knockdown during a turn, but thougth nothing of it until we decided to reel up the trolling rigs. Surprise, surprise - while our bird survived the strike, our new dolphin lure was GONE!  Guess the 50 lb. leader was too thin for the dentures of a local king.

After trolling til' the boys looked a little less than enthusiastic, we opted to run to Shell Island for a little adventure.  We set anchor and sent the boys ashore for some exploring.  While returning to the boat, the boys were joined by some of flipper's friends. What a surprise to stumble onto such a fantastic experience.  $EA $ICKNE$$ really delivered, especially since this was Shelby's 1st trip.

Shelby's 1st saltH20 fish - a nice king!
